Finding Balance at the
“Shiva & Shakti” Retreat
6 Day tropical yoga retreat at Gili Air
22 - 28 July 2018
Creating balance in our busy life takes a central position in this 6 day retreat at Gili Air. Gili Air is a is car free, idyllic atoll close to Bali, where the sand is powdery white, the water a clear sparkling turquoise, and the sunsets simply spectacular. In this beautiful setting we will be finding balance, letting go of the old to make space for the new.
Balance is a state of mind that comes from knowing yourself at your deepest level of truth. When you find that stable centre within yourself that yoga helps you uncover, you connect to your inner power, this eternal place of peace within.
The program includes daily: meditation, 2 yoga practices and theme related activities. Price includes accomodation, 3 meals a day, and transfer from Bali.
Join up to 16 other like-minded yogis, lovers-of-life and truth-seekers on this epic journey in Gili Air. Booking essential. Prices start at $1,250 (all inclusive, excl flight to Bali)
This retreat is held at the beautiful newly built retreat "Flowers and Fire Yoga Garden", Gili Air. http://flowersandfire.yoga/
Arcing away from the northwest corner of Lombok, the Gili Islands are three idyllic atolls where the sand is powdery white, the water a clear sparkling turquoise, and the sunsets over Bali’s Agung in the west simply spectacular. On the island there isn't any type of motorised transport allowed, they rely on bicycles or horse and carts, locally known as ‘Cidomos’.
Situated in the centre of the Indonesian paradise island Gili Air, Flowers and Fire Yoga Garden blends traditional Javanese artisanal teak details with local bamboo and ulang ulang style structures. This has created an intimate and magical space which maximises interaction with the beautiful surrounding environment. The two yoga studios, cafe and accommodations open out onto our gardens allowing a seamless indoor/outdoor experience. This reflects the site specific design principles and decision to build around existing trees rather then chop anything down!
Anneriek has studied yoga traditions for nearly 2 decades and is a Senior Yoga Teacher with experience in multiple yoga disciplines, including Prana Flow, Yin, Asthanga and Vinyasa. She has an unique ability to allow you to embody the flow of the yoga practice, connecting to your inner power with fluidity.
For Anneriek yoga is not about touching your toes or being able to do a handstand. It is about overcoming your fear, your self doubt, it’s about creating space were you feel stuck, about being kind and revealing your heart, it’s about believing in yourself
In this retreat we’ll explore our balance. Balance is a state of mind that comes from knowing yourself at your deepest level of truth. When you find that stable centre within yourself that yoga helps you uncover, you connect to your inner power, this eternal place of peace within.
Using the metaphor of ‘Shiva & Shakti’ we try to 'undo' old patterns of behaviour and lay down new ones creating more balance in our life. Even if learning about folklore and deities doesn’t normally strike your fancy, paying attention to Shiva and Shakti is worth it, since they embody the ideas of psychological change and growth to create BALANCE.
Shiva represents the male energy, and the embodiment of destruction, in a good way breaking down the old to create space for the new. Focusing on Shiva helps us experience our true selves in the present moment.
Shakti represents a feminine form of energy. The energy that fills the universe. Where Shiva represents the void, out of this emptiness comes Shakti, the essence of all life.
Each day you’ll be guided through:
Early morning meditation and breath work
- Two yoga asana classes per day (vinyasa flow in the morning, more gentle/lunar styles or yin yoga later in the day/evening)
- Yoga philosophy or theme related activities in the afternoon/evening
This retreat is suitable for all levels however some yoga experience is recommended. Participants are asked to open their minds to deepen their yoga practice and to explore new aspects of their yoga journey.

How to get to Gili Air
You fly to Bali (Depensar). The boats leave form Padang Bali harbour the same time everyday, the trip takes about 1.5 hrs. From Bali between 9/9.30, and then round 12.30/1ish. The hotel/airport pick up is between 6.30-7am and 10am depending on where you are staying. I would recommend to arrive in Bali a day before the start of the retreat, unless your flight arrives really early.
Another option is to fly to Lombok and get a taxi to Bangsal harbour for a very short boat trip to Gili Air.
Return to Bali
The boats leave Gili Air daily at about 11-12 (depending on delays) and you would normally get to the airport by about 3-4pm. Or there is an earlier boat that leaves Gili around 8.30am but it is a little more expensive so can attract a surcharge of about $20. This should get you to the airport around 1.
Book in using the "Book Now" button or contact Anneriek firstname.lastname@example.org. A non refundable $300 deposit is required to secure your spot. Payment in full to be made 1st of July 2018.
Payments can be made via cash, bank transfer or secure credit card payment. Payment plans can be organised.
